I have just returned from Crawley where we had our latest player championship events, with a mixed weekend for me. On the Saturday I was given a finishing lesson by Gary Welding in the second round. Sometimes you have to hold your hands up when you lose to the better player, and that was the situation on this occaision. On the Sunday I reached the semi finals with wins over Mareno Michels, Gary Eastwood, Kevin Painter and Co Stompe. This set up a semi final against Simon Whitlock which was a cracking match but unfortunately I went down 4-6. However, in the second leg I registered my first professional 9 darter with scores of: 167, 180 and a 154 checkout. I went the unorthodox way of t20, t20, d17, but they went in so that's all that matters.

We have a free weekend next weekend (11 & 12 September) but I have an exhibition on Friday 10th in Worcester and one on Monday 13th in Ballybrack, Co Dublin, Ireland. We then head over to Holland for the next two player championships on the weekend of September 18th and 19th

Thankyou all for your continued support

Travelled to Stansted airport on the Thursday with Debbie and stayed at a lodge near the airport so we didn't have to drive down at a ridiculous time in the morning. We had a meal and a decent nights sleep before flying out on the Friday morning. We had a good weekend in the renaissance hotel, and had a good vibe from arriving as I won one of the events in September 2009. We were very fortunate to be able to fly back on the Monday morning as all but Stansted airports were closed due to the ash cloud. We also got away with only an half hours delay. Here are my results from the Saturday:

Rd 1 -  Mita Habjan - won 6-1

Rd 2 -  Michael Barnard - won 6-5

Rd 3 - Michael; van Gerwen - won 6-5

Rd 4 - Simon Whitlock - lost 1-6

Sunday:

Rd 1- Mareno Michels - won 6-4

Rd 2 - Justin Pipe - won 6-3

Rd 3 - Adrian Gray - won 6-1

Rd 4 - Nigel Heydon - won 6-5

Quarter Final - Steve Hine - won 6-5

Semi Final - Simon Whitlock - lost 4-6

I travelled to Wigan to my step son Gaz on the Friday night. We checked in at the Premier Inn as usual, only for Gaz to have to return home after a call that his house had been broken into, but fortunately for Gaz (but not for his neighbours) it was next doors house. He returned back upto Wigan the next morning and I had already grabbed a lift to the venue with Colin and Andy (Osborne and Hamilton).

Player Championship 12 results (Saturday):

A nice little weekend at home for me on our second visit to Moorways Lesiure Centre. Myself and debbie had the pleasure of having Paul Nicholson stay with us and it was extra nice for the crowd at the Tamworth Sports Bar on the Friday 16th April, as I was doing exhibition and none of them realised that Paul would be there too. He was a dab hand at helping out on my merchandise stall! Cheers Paul!

Saturdays results:

Rd 1 - v Dennis Smith - won 6-4

Rd 2 - v Dave Ladley - won 6-3

Rd 3 - v Dennis Priestley - lost 1-6

Sundays results:

Rd 1 - v Tony Randell - won 6-5

Rd 2 - v Robert Thornton - won 6-3

Rd 3 - v Tony Eccles - lost 4-6

I travelled up to Wigan on the train on the Friday evening, as my usual travelling buddies - Andy Hamilton and Colin Osborne were not driving up until Saturday morning. I arrived at the Premier Inn around 7pm and has some dinner at the pub restaurant next door, with Jimmy Mann, Alex Roy and Jason Clark. A couple of drinks later, I decided to call it a night and hit the pillow around 10pm.

I got a lift from Peter Wright's wife Jo, along with Peter and Mervyn King around 9:15. This gave me loads of time to prepare for the day ahead. Colin and Andy came in around half 9 so we did some usual practise routines to warm up. It was alson nice to see Peter Manley back after his heart scare. My results were as follows:

Rd 1 - v Shaun Dring - won 6-3

Rd 2 - v Justin Pipe - won 6-5

Rd 3 - v Aaron Monk - won 6-1

Rd 4 - v Andy Hamilton - lost 3-6

A few of us went to Ormskirk in the evening for a couple of hours and back to Wigan for a meal, then was back in hotel for around 11.20 for a good nights sleep.

Back in the venue for the 7th of 8 UK Open qualifiers, where I met up with my Uncle Ray from Liverpool who gets really excited to say the least! Plenty of practise, to prepare for the days play. My results were:

Rd 1 - v Steve Cupitt - won 6-1

Rd 2 - v Andy Hamilton - won 6-3

Rd 3 - v Nick Fulwell - won 6-2

Rd 4 - v John Part - lost 2-6

Me and Gaz set off with Colin Osborne and Andy Hamilton for the weekends play. The good thing with going to Barnsley is that its less than an hour away, which gives us the luxury of not having to stay over, so we can stay in our own beds and get a good nights sleep!

My results for the Saturday were as follows:

Rd 1 - v Steve Maish - won 6-3

Rd 2 - v Mark Frost - lost 0-6

It has to be said that 'Frosty' played awesome during our match. The 6-0 scoreline was the walloping it suggests. His worse leg was 15 darts. As it was an early finish for me, I went with Gaz to the Oakwell Ground - home off Barnsley FC as they were playing host to Derby County. It was not the best football match in the world, but still it was nice to get away from the darts for a while, even though the football match was a boring 0-0.

UK Open 5 (Sunday):

Rd 1 - v Nigel Heydon - won 6-3

Rd 2 - v Peter Wright - won 6-3

Rd 3 - v Simon Whitlock - won 6-3

Rd 4 - v Michael van Gerwen - won 6-3

Quarter Finals - v Wes Newton - won 6-2

Semi Finals - v John Part - lost 3-6
